Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Gold Ridge Elementary has established procedures to ensure student safety and an orderly transition during arrival and dismissal. Since there is a very limited number of on-site visitor parking spaces at Gold Ridge, please allow extra time to park on an adjacent street or to use the Multi parking lot unloading/loading zone during arrival and dismissal. When parking on the street, please be respectful of the surrounding neighbors; do not block driveways, crosswalks, or corners. Also, please obey all traffic laws; stop completely at stop signs, observe the speed limit, do not make illegal U-turns, do not pass cars illegally, etc.

To help alleviate traffic congestion on Halidon Way and Blough Way at arrival and dismissal, we strongly encourage families to:

  • Take advantage of breakfast/morning supervision in the Multipurpose Room beginning at 7:40 am
  • Carpool
  • Walk
  • Ride bikes/scooters - Bicycle/Scooter Permission Form
  • Consider dropping off and picking up older students on Rundgren Way where they can easily access the adjacent, continuous trail to walk to and from school. See maps HERE.
  • As a family, consider parking at Kemp Park and walking to and from school. See map HERE.
  • Look into FCUSD bus transportation if your home is at least .75 miles from school (Grades TK-5).

Parking Lot & Bus Circle Information

Several visitor parking spaces are available in the lot adjacent to the Multipurpose building. Four accessible parking spaces are available for those with a valid DP placard or license plate. A student drop-off/pickup zone is available at the back of the Multi parking lot. Please do not block accessible parking spaces when using this lot for drop-off or pickup.

The lot adjacent to the Kindergarten building is reserved for staff parking and licensed daycare drop-off and pickup ONLY. One accessible parking space is available for those with a valid DP placard or license plate.

The bus circle in front of the school office is reserved for district buses at all times. No other vehicles may use the bus circle for drop-off or pickup.

PRESCHOOL, TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (TK), KINDERGARTEN

If no visitor parking spaces are available in the Multi parking lot, Preschool, TK, and Kindergarten parents should park on the street and walk their student to and from their designated arrival and dismissal location. Please be respectful of the surrounding neighbors when parking on the street; do not block driveways, crosswalks, or corners. When walking to and from school, please use the crosswalks and sidewalks; do not jaywalk or cut through the landscaped areas, parking lots, or bus circle.

GRADES 1-5

For grades 1-5, Gold Ridge offers the following drop-off/pickup options:

1.  Use the Multi Parking Lot Unloading/Loading Zone

An unloading/loading zone is available at the back of the Multi parking lot. Signs direct parents to pull forward before dropping off or picking up students. Parents must not exit their car. If your student needs help getting out of or into the car, please park on the street. During drop-off, we ask your assistance to have students ready with backpacks and gear so they can exit the car quickly. During pickup, we ask parents to keep the flow of traffic moving; please circle around the lot if your child is not present. Also, please observe the NO LEFT-HAND TURN signs. Only right-hand turns are allowed when entering and exiting the Multi parking lot.

2.  Park, then walk your child to and from school

If no visitor parking spaces are available in the Multi parking lot, parents should park on the street. Please be respectful of the surrounding neighbors; do not block driveways, crosswalks, or corners. When walking to and from school, please use the crosswalks and sidewalks; do not jaywalk or cut through the landscaped areas, parking lots, or bus circle.

Gold Ridge maintains a closed campus throughout the day. Parents walking students to school can say goodbye and give hugs on the street-side of the fence/entrance gates. Parents walking to pick up students at the end of the day should meet them at a pre-arranged location on the street-side of the fence/exit gates.
