Gold Ridge SEL & PBIS

SEL & PBIS:

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a set of ideas and tools that schools use to improve students' behavior. PBIS uses evidence and data-based programs, practices, and strategies to frame behavioral improvement relating to student growth in academic performance, safety, behavior, and establishing and maintaining a positive school culture.

PBIS is a schoolwide preventative approach that focuses on positive behaviors. It’s a process aiming for student success, regardless of ability. In a nutshell, the foundation of PBIS is modeling, encouraging, and rewarding positive behaviors as opposed to waiting and punishing destructive student behaviors.

SEL sets the foundations for students to improve and build on positive behaviors through the PBIS system.

Gold Ridge is on a mission to help our Eagles S.O.A.R. to new heights and feel more positively connected to our school with our PBIS system. Gold Ridge provides opportunities for students to get recognized for their good and appreciated choices on campus, showing Self-control, On-task behavior, Achievement, and Respect. Students can earn S.O.A.R. tickets to redeem for rewards at our S.O.A.R. store as well as get recognized for their model behavior at our S.O.A.R. assemblies.
